Vice President of Intelligence Analysis

John McCreary serves as the Vice President of Intelligence Analysis. Mr. McCreary brings a distinguished 38 year career in Defense Intelligence, where he was the most senior of the 41 Senior Defense Intelligence Experts in the Defense Intelligence Agency. He also served as the Senior Intelligence Analyst in the Directorate of Intelligence, Joint Staff, where he worked directly with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the senior officials of the Department of Defense. He concurrently served as the Senior Defense Intelligence Expert for Analysis and Warning in the Defense Intelligence Agency.

During his career in Defense Intelligence, Mr. McCreary was the lead intelligence officer on many of the most important international developments that have shaped the world today.  These include the five India-Pakistan crises since 1971, the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979, the collapse of the Warsaw Pact and the Soviet Union, six North Korean nuclear crises, the overthrow of the Taliban in 2001, and the aftermath of the overthrow of Saddam Husayn in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He has taught strategic analysis and warning to the intelligence services of more than two dozen countries.

Mr. McCreary is the only Defense Intelligence Analyst selected by name by the U.S. Senate to serve on a U.S. Senate committee and the only defense intelligence analyst to receive a Presidential Rank award. He remains the only DIA civilian analyst to ever visit the isolated North Korea to this day. Mr. McCreary has numerous decorations and commendations from the Central Intelligence Agency, the Intelligence Community and the Defense Intelligence Agency. He is an attorney and member of the Virginia State Bar.
